Cake Smash On Location

I am so proud of myself for quickly making this teepee for my most recent cake smash, actually a little secret – my 7 year old daughter helped me and put the pampas grass sets together!

While planning with this little one’s mummy we decided on creating a space in the garden so we were near home for clearing up the mess, having a bottle of milk and towels on hand as a nap would soon be needed!

I love the rustic feel to this smash and most of all I love that she was happy and got to enjoy her first birthday. I would say she wasn’t that impressed about the cake between her toes but when else can you get to do this other than a first birthday smash with a photographer!

…isn’t she just so cute!

The Cake

This cake was subtle, beautiful and plain which I love as it goes so well with this theme. Please note that although I encourage eating the cake this will not be a large amount and healthy options can be chosen. Cakes filled with strawberries have gone down just as well.

Props

In the above Smash I made the teepee with velour fabric and pampas grass. The bunting was made with burlap and couple of dried flowers. I have a few cake stands to choose from as well as this rustic tree slice that is great for a boho style or a rustic jungle theme.

How the Session works

I bring my soft lighting and any props that we are using of mine, all to you, in the comfort of your home, garden or on location. I like to start with a few warm up photographs and this is a great opportunity to capture your little one in their birthday outfit before we make any mess.

Then it’s time for free play, eating, smashing and just a whole lot of fun!

I shoot a Smash with enough time to play, eat and smash but not too much time that your little one get’s tired or ill! I encourage you to help smash the cake to help the process run smoothly and keep your little one entertained. The more mess the better so cake over the floor, in hands and mushed between their toes is a successful smash! A spoon is always a great addition to enhance play and smashing of the cake plus a bottle of milk or water on hand for your little one should they need it.

Your Cake Smash Photography birthday images

I will hand you a password protected online gallery ready for you to view within a week of your session. There is so much work that goes in to the editing and they are all hand edited with love in my editing style for you to then select your chosen images, frames and Wall Art from to display in your home.

During our tidy up this little one had some milk and fell straight to sleep!
